ISO 9000 a quality-management system that ensures reliability of products, although not the best (Wareham, 1993).

The article "IS09000 and the very small firm" by Wareham (1993) discusses about how the process of adhering to ISO standards is not the best for a small firm. The small firms having 20-100 people have a different process standard and once they need to adhere to ISO standards, they are spending much more on the process and documenting than even their turnover at times. Also they begin to face time constraints with the size of the team.

Although as a positive point, they do have increased customer ssatisfaction by being an ISO9000 approved producer. It needs to be taken into consideration that the standards need to be moulded differently for a small firm to be able to adhere to it as well as not be at serious disadvantage in terms of resources, investment and turnover.
